Residential Design
Residential Design: 元朗 | YOHO Hub
Unit area: 487 sq. ft.
Project Description
For busy Hong Kong people, creating an ideal home is definitely a big worry. From residential design to the selection and customization of whole-house furniture, to the decoration stage, each step requires a lot of time and effort. This time, the owner of the YOHO Hub unit was busy with work and had no time to deal with the interior design of his new home, so he delayed the start of construction for half a year. Therefore, the designer tailor-made the ideal home for the owner and used the existing furniture in the unit to "mix and match" it. It only took the owner one month to move in.
In this residential design project, the biggest difficulty was to perfectly integrate the existing furniture with the new design. Elements such as the color and placement of floors, TV cabinets and wardrobes must be taken into consideration to create a home environment that meets the needs of the homeowner without losing aesthetics. Although the main colors of the unit are only white and wood, the designer needs to bring more than 40 color samples to the unit to piece together similar and harmonious tones, so that the entire residential space design presents a sense of unity.
Residential spaces in Hong Kong are small, so saving space while maintaining home aesthetics is another challenge. The second major feature of the YOHO Hub project - the "ghost sliding door" cleverly resolves this challenge. As the name suggests, "ghost sliding doors" are doors with invisible rails. This design saves space compared to ordinary doors. Take the storage room as an example. Often, after opening the doors and cabinet doors, there is no room for people to stand, and they even need to bend their body to close the door. The space is very narrow. However, the use of sliding doors can easily solve the above space problems, and even provide enough space for placing shoe cabinets indoors. The design of invisible rails adds to the fashion sense of the home, making it beautiful and practical.
In addition, the bedroom is designed with a platform bed of just the right size, making the room very neat and orderly without unnecessary and impractical gaps. There is also a floor bed cabinet at the end of the bed to further meet the homeowner's needs for storage space. It is worth noting that the cabinet door adopts a hydraulic arm design, which is safer and more labor-saving than ordinary cabinet doors when used. The design of the entire set of floor beds and cabinets helps homeowners make full use of the space at the end of the bed and facilitate access to items. At the same time, compared to upright cabinets, the floor cabinets will bring a wider visual effect and will not block natural light, making the bedroom more comfortable.
YOHO Hub's residential design project successfully completed the renovation from design to completion in just one month, providing homeowners with a fast and highly practical design solution so that they can move into their new home as soon as possible. The residential design that integrates old and new furniture can save time and money in re-customizing all furniture, showing a simplified and creative living space.
